Results of the Leonardo da Vinci project

Project Education for employment is financed from Leonardo da Vinci Lifelong Learning Programme 2007 - 2013 and its goal is to support disabled persons on the job market by education. The project was cooperated by institutions from four countries: Italy, Hungary, United Kingdom and Czech Republic. The shielding institution in Czech Republic was ACZ spol. s r. o. and University of West Bohemia, United Kingdom was represented by Greater Manchester Youth Network, Hungary was represented by Motivació Foundation and finally in Italy it was Provincia di Livorno. The project started the 1st October 2008 and will end in spring 2010.
The partners had exchanged their experiences from past projects and invented some new methods to work with the target group. These innovations were:

  1. Question Form is the first of innovative methods and it comes from the British partner. It was created as the first contact with the disabled client. Its purpose is to familiarize with client, know his special needs and personal situation. This form has become indispensable when searching a suitable job opportunity to the client.
  2. E-learning form of courses was created by University of West Bohemia for vocational training courses. E-learning form of courses enables disabled students to adapt the time and tempo of learning to their special needs, in addition, they can learn from the comfort of their homes.   3. Transcript of official documents into more comprehensible and simple version was adopted from Greater Manchester Youth Network. This method is especially useful to clients with learning ability disruption. Transcript should enable better communication with this target group and assist with getting the necessary information for public administration.
  4. Job facilitator helps disabled persons to find a suitable job. He is in contact with client even after the entry to work to support him in the new situation; the job facilitator should be also in contact with the new employer to help with the possible problems coming with the disabled employee. Therefore, Job Facilitator should prevent the frequent occurrence of losing the job early after the entry to work. This innovation came from Italian partner, Provincia di Livorno.

The main aim of the project is to help disabled people to get a job thanks to gained education. On the basis of the sample survey conducted during ADiP EQUAL project ACZ prepared the educational system with focus on the main skills and knowledge which are demanded by employers and asked by disabled people. The courses were free for all disabled persons, started at January 2009 and will end January 2010. In total, 48 clients finished courses in Czech Republic and Hungary. The great success of the project is the labor-market position of our clients; 22 clients had found a job due to our program, 12 of these had a permanent contract, 8 had gotten a temporary contract and two are self employed.
